So I made a comment on this lefty blog in regards to the author's wailing and gnashing of teeth over a Walmart dropping a local newspaper in response to a negative column about Walmart. Yeah, a real tear-jerker there. I mean, Heaven forbid that the store's management has any say over what merchandise they do or do not carry - particularly when that merchandise decides to bite the hand that feeds it!
Anyway, that comment brought a couple trolls to my blog. Here's a sampling of their brilliant insight along with my responses:
In response to a posting about Walmart and the Pensacola News Journal on Antonia Zerbisias' blog, you wrote this:
"Children are starving to death in the world and this is what you complain about?"
Did you read the article in question? If so, I wonder if you see no connections between children starving and the behaviour of corporations like Walmart? Does the poverty of the children of Walmart employees not trouble you at all?
In short, no. Walmart isn't causing their employees' children to live in poverty. The employees have choices in this country. First and foremost, of course, is the choice to find alternative employment if they don't like where they work. They also have the choice of seeking state assistance. Now, I'm not talking about people becoming dependant on state assistance. Far from it. But the assistance is there if you need it. My wife and I had to use it for a while and we're not ashamed of it, but we eventually stopped because we no longer needed it. Quite plainly, there is no valid reason for people in this country to live in poverty. To place the blame for it on Walmart is ridiculous.
Yeah! They should just quit and live off of welfare. Then the right wing will have more to gripe about. Maybe Jesus will save their hungry kids. If those kids work hard enough, they won't be hungry, so put them to work!
As I said, people can find alternative employment if they are unhappy with their current employer. I've done this a number of times in my life. They don't have to live off welfare, though a temporary life from the state doesn't hurt. And thanks so much for mocking my religion. Nice to know that the left's "tolerance" is still a big, fat lie.
Children are starving to death in the world and this is what you post?
'Scottie' died. Earthshaking news.
By the way, if you knew anything about Wal-Mart you'd know they contribute to the starvation and exploitation of child workers.
Pinhead.
"Pinhead." A crippling insult, to be sure! Actually, friend, my use of the "children are starving to death" line on the lefty blog was a figurative expression to show how ridiculous the woman's quibble with Walmart was. It wasn't particularly literal. And actually, yes, James Doohan's passing is earthshaking news to many people. He was known and loved the world over. He was a person of outstanding class and quality - the type of person that is rarely found in the world today. And if you knew anything about the world, you'd know that child workers are continually exploited in third world countries and sometimes American businesses - not just Walmart - unknowingly do business with people who exploit their workers. It's not the fault of the American companies. When such exploitment is discovered, American companies end their business with those responsible.
